January was quite a busy month. We have been initializing all sixteen ministries of the church. Around 90% of the church signed up in November to be involved in one or two of these ministries. So, it is paramount that all function as envisioned. Some of these ministries include: Benevolence, missions, special events, prayer, drama as well as other fine arts ministries, natural disaster response team, and youth and kids clubs. We are seeing light at the end of the tunnel and most all are functioning well.
Also in January we had three major events. First was the Three Kings Day event at the church. Gifts were given to all the children by the kings. Originally we had planned a drama but the director was sick along with several others on the drama team so we substituted with a guest speaker. Later on in mid-January we celebrated Kids' Day, an annual event for our congregation. We had one-hundred and seven in attendance. The following week was the ordination of our new deacons serving for the next two years.
Now that we are in February the events keep coming. Last Sunday was Valentine’s Day Sunday. Special emphasis was given to the occasion with a Valentine and candy given to everyone in attendance. After church most everyone went to the basement to enjoy cake and soda. The total for the day was one-hundred and eleven. This weekend is the women’s retreat. Eight women registered to go. Then the twenty-sixth of this month we will celebrate the church’s anniversary. We hope to have a fine crowd. A guest speaker and guest singers are on tab for that day and the ladies are planning lasagna for “eats”.
So, as you can see, 2012 is shaping up to be a very busy. We believe it will be a wonderful year with God’s blessing. I’ll pause here. Thanks for stopping by to read.
