January 14

Hi from "cool” Puerto Rico. Nights are down to the upper sixties on the coast and pounding waves of 16-20 feet are forecast for today. Mary bundled up in flannel pajamas last nightJ. (I think we have been here too long.)

The first two weeks of the year are going well. The first Sunday saw an attendance of one-hundred and eighteen... a full house. It was Three Kings Day (Puerto Rico's second Christmas) and we had a singing group present the Sunday program. They did a wonderful job and the only complaint was they stopped too soon. All the children got a gift from the Three Kings (men from the church dressed up in their regalia) and everyone enjoyed a piece of cake.

Yesterday the attendance was down to the upper eighties. I was still quite pleased since some members had to work. Another was preaching in a sister church. And still another was off island.

The new ministries are off and running. Leaders are in place and we have a plus 90 % of the members plugged into one of fifteen ministries this year. Enthusiasm is high. All indicates this year has the potential to be a great year for the congregation.

This coming weekend twelve of our teenagers are off to their annual retreat. Some are going for the first time and excitement is seen in the faces of the kids. Five of the adults from our church are in charge while I stay in Aguadilla to preach. I am excited about that and very proud of our church members.

I will give you the results in the next blog.  Until then, God bless you.

Johnathan and Mary
