Overflow attendance for Good Friday |
Good afternoon. I promised an update after Good Friday and yesterday. In the last blog I mentioned that Good Friday in Latin America/Puerto Rico is the equivalent to Easter Sunday morning.I had expected a good attendance and my expectations were realized. We know we had in excess of hundred and fifty. The exact count is unknown. Extra chairs were added and a few stood up.

Good Friday cantata |
The drama/cantata was inspired by a scene taken from a childhood memory. When visiting our grandparents in Trade, TN, the extended family would gather Sunday afternoon on my grandparents' porch to visit, occasionally sing and sometimes discuss the Bible. That scenario was also very typical in PR many years ago and still today many people take the kids to visit their grandparents each Sunday.
Out of that, our worship leader created a script for the cantata in which we sang and retold the the last hours of Christ as well as His resurrection. We also had a troubadour and a local musician intersperse the cantata with traditional "jibaro" music/words. For lack of a better description "jibaro music," it would be like Bluegrass music. The whole thing turned our beautifully; to God be the glory!

Part of the dance ministry |
Yesterday, for Sunday morning, we tallied one-hundred-five. Our dance ministry did a beautiful interpretation of a song entitled "He Will Return". Also, we had a sunrise service in which twenty-two participated and then shared breakfast, prepared by some of the women of the church.
Yesterday afternoon we did nothing other than visit an absent church member and watch movies. :-)
There you go! God bless you.
