The same day they arrived back to Puerto Rico he fell ill and had to be hospitalized for a week. They had no money, and only a very small house to go to after being released from the hospital; a small house without furniture. Their situation was difficult to be sure.
Our church learned of their plight and swung into action. A cash gift of $200.00 was given to the couple to tide them over until he could work again. And since they had no furniture, the church members gave them a living room set, beds, mattresses, chairs, kitchen utensils, a new stove, clothes and other articles. Even a one-hundred pound bottle of propane gas for the new stove was donated. As they reflected on the generosity of our church tears of gratitude filled both their eyes. I am so proud of our church members. Our church is a generous church.
Today was the election of deacons. Our son Andy and another brother, Santos Torres, served as deacons for two years. Their term ends in two weeks. Both did a marvelous job. May those chosen serve as well these next two years.
We are getting ready to paint the church building. Some of the men have done the trim work and next Saturday, we hope to have a good number of men from the church paint the entire building in a morning.
That wraps it up. We hope you have a great week.
Johnathan and Mary
