Yesterday was our church's Three Kings Day celebration. This year the holiday fell on Sunday, always a two edged blade: faith competing with a secular celebration. Nevertheless, we decided to plan a major event Sunday afternoon, leaving the morning for each fam

ily to spend together. A band playing traditional Puerto Rican music was contracted, a Christian clown was brought in for the kids, and beautiful costumes for the "three kings" were made by one of our church members. The congregation was asked to donate gifts to give to the church children as well as children in the neighborhood. Many were asked to bring in Puerto Rican desserts to serve after the concert. Two days prior to the event we promoted the activity in the community. Then we waited to see what would happen...
... it was a success.

The band was wonderful. "Gaspacho", the clown, did a fine job with the children. The church family donated over seventy gifts for the children. There were desserts everywhere and, of course, the Three Kings were outfitted in their beautiful regalia giving gifts to all the children.
We estimate there were between 115 and 125 people present. I heard no negative comments, only positive feedback. Even with the good attendance we had five families out due to sickness. So, if attendance measures success then we can say it was definitely a success... a nice way to start 2008!
The best to you.

John & Mary,
Congratulations on your ministry in P.R. One of the best results of I.C. U. was the joining of several couples who ministered here for a time. Think of that.
Sarah and I are fine. I am writing a book..«SE LAS PEIDRAS HABLASEN...» iT'S ABOUT HOW cHRISTIANTY came to the Iberian Peninsula.. Hope to have a rough draft by the end of June 2008,
