Hi. Summer is upon us. It always arrives at the same time each year, during the forty days leading up to Easter week. Winter winds begin to wane and temperatures initiate their climb. Soon rains follow and continue through the end of December.
On to other matters; several of the island churches met again for the annual men's retreat. Our congregation began this retreat four years ago. It is great to see several churches take their turn sponsoring the event. The Bible study was excellent and many from all the churches participated in some way or another.
On the heels of the men's retreat was a visit from a men's missions team from Harroldsburg, KY. They did a fine job carrying out the task assigned to them. As a bonus, one of the men in the group who owns a landscaping business offered his expertise to redesign the church's decorative garden area. It turned out beautifully. The church people love the new look.
Our annual kite festival fought the elements this year with rain taking its toll on the event. Nevertheless, those who stuck it out had a great time flying Puerto Rican homemade kites.
Last week as you know, was Easter week. It continues to be a major event in the church calendars across the island. Our church presented a drama written by our Fine Arts director. As best as we could count, one-hundred and fifty-seven were present. Our church building seats a capacity crowd of one-hundred and twenty-five. As you can see in the photo, we had to place extra chairs down the sides and center aisles.
Yesterday, Sunday morning, a portion of our congregation met at 6:30 A.M. for a sunrise service and breakfast. Then, at the 11:00 A.M. service, we had a fine crowd of one-hundred and six. By evening Mary and I were totally “deenergized” and ready to sit down to do nothing.
I believe this wraps it up for now. Thanks for reading.
