Mens treat

Good afternoon. Mary and I are well and hope the same for you. At the close of our last blog I indicated I would report next time on a few upcoming events. The first of those was the annual men’s retreat. This year, our congregation once again hosted the event which took place at a beautiful location in the mountains. Temperatures dropped to the mid-fifties (frigid for Puerto Rico).  We had eighteen in attendance with four churches participating.  It was a fine retreat and there was good participation by nearly everyone.  Seven of the men had assigned topics and did a great job teaching. I left satisfied with the whole weekend.

Harrodsburg KY missions team

Last week, a missions team of six men from Harrodsburg, KY worked on two projects, including the initial stages of a house renovation for a couple who, due to sickness, (both husband and wife), are unable to work. The house, which is theirs, when repaired, will offer them rent-free housing.  The team started at ground level, tearing out and replacing the old floor and leveling the foundation.  In a couple of weeks, another team from Asbury College will be arriving to continue with the project working on the rafters, roof, and interior walls as well as applying a coat of paint to the exterior.
On April 7, I had the privilege of baptizing a young woman in obedience to Jesus’ teachings. Her parents were thrilled, along with the rest of the congregation.

Splash/Kite Festival

Last Sunday was our annual Kite/Splash Day event. Attendance was good for the service and the majority of the congregation stayed for the festivities afterwards. I think everyone had a fine time…the kids for sure!

God bless you.
