My sister called me and informed me that the weather was "just lovely" in Cleveland, TN. ; cool with the fragrance of fall in the air. "GREAT, JUST GREAT", I thought. Here in Puerto Rico the days and nights are borderline unbearable, hot and rain is a sure thing every day. Clothes and shoes collect mold in the closet if unused. In these months most of us bathe two or three times a day.
Okay, its not really THAT bad :-) honestly. But, I still long for fall even after being in Puerto Rico for two-thirds of my life...forty-one years. Who would have "thunk". I didn't even like it when I first came to the island. Life is good though and we are happy! We hope you can say the same where ever you are living God's gift of life.
Things have been quiet at church lately. We are in between events. While treading water a little we are planning for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season. In two weeks we will begin an English class and we are expanding the Sunday school in other ways as well. Chad and Chandi Mayes, new missionaries on the island, will be leading the class. There are a few people who prefer an English class over Spanish so we will have both to offer.
I failed to mention I had the opportunity to baptize the husband of one of our church members. They just welcomed the birth of their first child. What a joy to see the family united in Christ. That is becoming increasingly uncommon on the island.
