March 3

Hi everyone. We hope all is well with you. Since our last blog the Vigilia as well as Childrens' Day have come and gone.
Campfire service

It had been years since we had done a Vigilia (campfire service) so we were unsure of the turnout. By 7:00 PM just a few had shown up, but by 8:00 PM there were more than sixty-three in attendance. Enthusiasm was high and where there is good fellowship, good singing, and food the result is almost always positive. Although several went home around 10:00 PM, thirty-four spent the night camping on the church grounds.

Children's Day
Last Sunday was our annual Children's Day; a Sunday dedicated to the children of our church. Although I was on the east side of the island preaching, the turnout was good with one-hundred and one in attendance. I was delighted considering several regulars were absent.
Destination Unknown
Destination Unknown
This past Saturday we sponsored an island-wide youth activity. Every six weeks the churches' youth meet for a shared event. We took them on a "Destination Unknown" to see an old grist mill stone laying on a beach in the Aguadilla area. Its final resting place and origin is a mystery, lost to forgotten history. Attendance was lower than expected due in part to the proximity of our church's anniversary set for the following day. Because of distance and cost, the churches opted for attending the anniversary.

Church Anniversary
Yesterday's anniversary went well. We anticipated a big crowd since our attendance has been growing for the past month and a half. Along with visitors, we had expected a capacity crowd of one-hundred and twenty. Well, we missed it by one, one-hundred and nineteen. Our program included a guest singer, who has an amazing voice, one that brought a lump to my throat. Afterward, we had an "ever popular" church dinner.

Today is "down day", i.e. my day off. So, its errand day, you know how that is, a long list of "to does" that you keep pecking away at.

I'll close here. Until next time...
