March 31

Buenas tardes to everyone. Today is the 31st, the last day of March. It has been a good month. Mary and I hope all is well with you. Let's bring you up to date.

So far, this year has been the best year ever for Sunday attendances. With the exception of two weeks, the attendance has been in the 90's - 100's. The last two Sundays the attendance climbed to 119 and 121. This means a capacity crowd...full house. Recently, we have been blessed with several new families with children and some that had been unable to come due to work schedules have been able to attend.

Children of the world
Yesterday, was our first International Day of Missions. This year we had two guest speakers who spoke of works in the Dominican Republic as well as Haiti, Mexico and Chile. To emphasize the day, the children of the church were dressed in native costumes from around the world. Sixteen nations were represented. A special offering of $274.00 was taken up to send to a mission. We chose I.D.E.S. Puerto Rico has been a recipient of I.D.E.S.'s help in the past and so we wanted to reciprocate that act of grace. After the service we served an international meal with dishes from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Peru, The United States, and the "ever favorite" gallina de palo (tree chicken...green iguana). Several bold souls tried that exotic dish.

Also, we offered, during Sunday School, a class on earthquake preparedness. One of our church members trained by the Civil Defense taught the class.

Other related events presently on the table include: Our pantomime ministry, working hard to do a special for Good Friday. Thirteen men as well as singers preparing a drama entitled the "Upper Room" for Good Friday, and finally, the initialization of an Interpretive Dance ministry for youth and kids.

I guess that catches it. Thanks for reading.

Johnathan and Mary
