A happy moment for this couple
Hi. Labor Day has been just that, a day to do some work around the house. Perhaps many of you can relate. Since our last blog our lives have been busy and productive. Let's go over those details.

At the top of the news; recently I was privileged to baptize a delightful couple. They had made initial contact with our church via the church blog. From that moment, and for the ensuing months, they have been very faithful in their attendance including mid-week Bible studies. A couple weeks ago Santos Torres, who works with me three days a week, discussed Christian baptism with them. The result was that they were baptized a couple days later, August 23.

Bonsai workshop
Among the events of the church, we were blessed with a Bonsai workshop by one of the church members. Unsure of the attendance, we had hoped for ten or twelve. I believe I counted twenty-one.

Last Saturday a few of our ladies met to make caps for the children in the Childrens' Hospital in San Juan. We hope to travel to San Juan at Christmas time to give away blankets, caps, toys, and personal items for the children and their parents.

Yesterday, after church, the church rented a bus to attend the homecoming celebration of one of the sister churches in the town of Mayagüez. Our band was invited to lead the worship service. In all, we had twenty-six attend the event.

Attendance is picking up but, still fluctuating: 109, 91, 79. Sickness took its toll on the attendance last Sunday.

This week I am working to get everything ready for Grandparents' Day next Sunday. We have a lot who qualify so we will have a grand occasion celebrating that honored position.

Personal items: Mary is back to teaching at the University of Puerto Rico. After a few days she has come down with a cold. Nothing serious, but feeling pretty punk. As for myself, I painted our house last week. It HAD to be done after delaying the task for several months. I recruited some help so it went pretty fast, thank goodness.

I believe that covers everything. Until next time...
