Acrostic by the kids
Good morning from Puerto Rico. I wanted to get the blog out before going on to other projects on the "to do" list. I hope your Mothers Day weekend was pleasant. In Puerto Rico it is a very important occasion, only less important than Christmas, Three Kings, and perhaps Good Friday. I am always amazed that family, friends and co-workers go all out to warmly congratulate all mothers. Stores full of merchandise are left with only wrapping paper, bows, and a few left over items after the Mothers Day shopping frenzy.

At the church, as you can imagine, we celebrated the occasion in a big way. Not only did the kids sing a song and do an acrostic "Te Amo Mamá (I Love You Mom), all the mothers received a flower and a gift. We also gave special recognition to an unassuming mother who did a remarkable job raising her three children to be productive citizens not only in the greater community of Puerto Rico and Aguadilla but also among the community of believers. She was totally surprised as we called her to the front and gifted her with a plaque and a bouquet of flowers with her children at her side.
Totally surprised at being honored

Afterwards, at dinner (which had been donated by one of the church members), the mothers were served first by several of the men. Then, these brothers pitched in to clean up.

I thought about the beautifully adorned dinner tables designed by the leader of the Decorations Ministry, and I admired the manicured yard and newly planted flowers done by the Community Outreach Ministry the day before. My thoughts took me back to a great worship service handled by the Worship Ministry and realized this church is a very blessed body of believers, thanks and praise be to the Lord of Light.

As I locked up I glanced over at the attendance board (which is probably perused more by me than the rest...it is a preacher thing)  and saw with satisfaction we had one-hundred and eleven in spite of several families out of town to be with their moms. We need to expand the facility.

Blessings on your lives.
