Hi everyone. July has been a quiet, uneventful month. Several years ago I realized that trying to accomplish much in late June and all of July is pretty much a wasted effort. So many of our people are on vacation either off-island with destinations to Europe, the U.S., the Dominican Republic, and other Caribbean islands, or vacationing locally across the island. Attendance swings are radical. Two Sundays ago we had eighty in attendance but only fifty-five were locals. Then last Sunday, one-hundred and twelve locals were tallied with just nine chairs unoccupied in the auditorium. Still, people were out-of-pocket on vacation. In the past, it used to alarm me, but I came to realize there was no need to worry. Everyone takes vacations. Even Mary and I were in the States for nearly three weeks in late June and early July.
Sunday, July 26, I had the delight of baptizing this pictured couple after the worship service. They have been worshiping with us for several months.
Also, that same Sunday, we were honored with a guest speaker, Salvador Hadames, from the Dominican Republic He did a fine job and I heard several positive comments from the congregation.
Looking forward, just a couple of weeks from now, we are hosting a Friday night concert the 14th. The singers, a Dominican duet, are popular on the radio and we anticipate a very good attendance for the event.
The following Friday night and Saturday morning the church is hosting a marriage seminar. Marriages are taking a real beating in Puerto Rico. Perhaps we can help a little with this seminar.
Until next time... Thanks for reading.
