Good afternoon from Puerto Rico. God bless each of you. Yesterday was a special day in our church. For the third consecutive year we emphasized the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) by celebrating International Missions' Day. In the past we had looked to the Dominican Republic, Haiti and some countries in Latin America. This year, however, we took our attention across the Atlantic to the countries of Jordan and Ethiopia.
Tom Lacey, accompanied by his wife Sally, was our guest speaker. Tom is an elder and missions coordinator in the Farragut Christian Church, located in west Knoxville, TN. Tom and some of the members of the Farragut congregation have done mission trips to several countries including Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. The latter one was a joint trip between a team from Farragut as well as a team from our church here in Aguadilla. Recently, Tom traveled to the Middle East to become more acquainted with missions in Ethiopia as well as Jordan. During the Sunday School hour, as well as the worship hour, he gave a visualized presentation of those ministries.
Also, we took time to review all that our church has done these past years in Puerto Rico as well as off-island. The list of accomplishments is quite extensive. The church is generous.
Before the presentation, the children did three dances in costume, celebrating the Jordanian and Ethiopian cultures. They were delightful. Even the building was decorated for the special day. After the service we were served desserts, typical of our target countries.
Our attendance was one-hundred and thirteen, almost a full house.
Blessings.
Johnathan and Mary
