Good morning from Puerto Rico. Summer is upon us. With the days being hot, muggy and rains seemly interminable, everyone is looking for a cool place to escape.

May has been a busy time for us. First on our agenda was Mothers Day, a very important event on the island. Our church celebrated the day in style. In addition to a great song service sung by a full house, we also enjoyed an interpretive dance done by a mother daughter team.

Following the dance was the presentation of gifts to all of the mothers present. Then, we viewed a drama entitled "The Best of the Mothers". The youth of the church gave a great performance. The people loved it. Afterwards, we enjoyed a wonderful dinner.

On the heels of Mothers Day was the arrival of a basketball team from Covenant College who's campus is located in Lookout Mountain, TN. Traveling with the team were two representatives from Athletes in Action. This group was invited to the island by Chad and Chandi Mayes, fellow missionaries to PR. While here, the team needed a service project so they painted a good portion of our church building. We were blessed.

The following day was a first-ever event for our church. We hosted a 5k race as a way to raise funds for a missions trip we hope to make this summer. Many of our people helped with the event. We had anticipated up to three-hundred runners but fell far short of that number. Nevertheless, it was a positive event and we intend to do it again next year.

Coming up this month is a camp-out on the church grounds by some Boy Scouts as well as a celebration for our graduates set for the last Sunday of the month. Until next time...
