January 30

Christmas is quickly fading into the past and life has returned to normal in Puerto Rico...finally. Here is a quick update of the past month.

The first Sunday of the month we had a guest speaker focus on the theme for the year, "Together We Are More". The following week one of our church members continued on with the same emphasis. The 15th of January I preached on the topic as well, and then finished up last Sunday with one last message on the same principle.

Halfway through the month, the church enjoyed its annual Children's Day event. Our guest speaker was an individual we had used on other occasions. She and her daughters, using puppets, did a fine job teaching the children Christian values. The kids directed the worship service with excellence. We had a very good attendance, one-hundred and twenty-nine; a full house. Chairs had to be placed down the middle aisle to accommodate everyone.

Last weekend was another annual event-the youth retreat. We lost several youth and their families last summer to moves to the States. Nevertheless we still had twenty youth and sponsors participate. It was a beautiful weekend. The teaching was superb and the setting where we camped out was located next to a beautiful rock bottom river lined with bamboo.  The attendance at church was good as well. We were just under one-hundred.

I believe that catches the highlights. Blessings.
