Hi,
everyone. I hope your week and month is going well. This letter is a little different than all the
others. I want to make you aware of a change in our mission structure. First, a
little journey into the past.
Back in
1970 I met a young man, Bill Archer, and later, his wife to be, Anita Young, as
students at Johnson University (Johnson Bible College at that time). In short
order, we grew to be good friends and although I moved to Puerto Rico and life
took them to TN, LA, FL, OK, and AZ, we always kept in contact. Some things should be
treasured in one's life and that certainly includes good friends. Bill and his
wife, Anita, are among those special treasures.
Years ago,
we needed to make a change of forwarding agents. Although the job is not hard
nor too time consuming, it is an important position and faithfulness and excellence are essential. Contact with supporting churches and individuals must proceed unimpeded.
We asked Bill and by default Anita, to assume that position. Bill accepted the invitation and did not take his hand off the plow for the next twenty-five years. Without going into
details, I must testify to the wonderful job he/they did. We want to express our sincerest thanks for their work, and not only Mary and I, but the entire board of Puerto Rico Mission Inc.; Dr.
John Ketchen, Dr. Terry Allcorn, and pastors Bart Newton and Doug Lay.
Bill is
retiring as a pilot from American Airlines this July to join his wife in
retirement, a former school teacher. They have several options to
explore and are hoping for the Lord’s guidance as they change their focus. I should add, although Bill will be
stepping down as forwarding agent, he will continue to be an active member of
the mission board.
Taking
their place are John and Nancy Montgomery, my beloved brother-in-law and sister.
John and Nancy have been interested in our work for years and have visited us on several occasions, witnessing first hand the results of our efforts.
Beginning this month, all correspondence should be sent to John and Nancy Montgomery, 125 Millard Drive NW, Cleveland, TN 37312-7041.
Spring is right
around the corner for you! Cheer up! Soon it will be as warm as Puerto Rico.
Hasta la
vista,
Johnathan
and Mary Reece
