June 10

Good afternoon everyone. "Hola" from Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Nice to be back with you again.

Since our last blog we have participated in the men's retreat, an annual event on the island. This year we took a smaller group than normal. There were several scheduling conflicts a few of our men couldn't get around.

While we men were gone, the church recognized the graduates of our congregation. Mary said nine graduated this year from the key grades; kinder, sixth, ninth, twelfth and college.

Summer is in full swing and that means missions teams visiting from the States. So far, under the auspices of Chad and Chandi Mayes, missionaries to this side of the island, two large groups have worshiped with us. The first team was from Athletes in Action. The present group is composed of three churches located in Lincoln county, Kentucky. It is nice to have them all in the services. These groups are playing basketball and doing basketball clinics, summer camps, painting and sprucing up different facilities (homes, schools, etc).

Our attendance has had some wild swings recently; 84, 101, 85, 134. Some of our members are taking vacations so our attendance is somewhat unpredictable.

Last Saturday I was privileged to baptize a young woman. Although most choose to be baptized in the baptistery, she wanted to be baptized in the ocean. It was a beautiful moment. Last Sunday we presented her with a baptismal certificate and a hardy applause from the congregation.

Finally, next Sunday is Father's Day. It will be a big event with a special program, large attendance and dinner to top off the day.

God bless you. Until next time.

Johnathan and Mary Reece
